Addressing Homelessness in Travis County, Texas: What Organizations are Working to Help?

Police officers in Texas are dedicated to working closely with their local communities, striving to build a relationship based on courtesy, fairness, and integrity. To tackle the issue of homelessness in Travis County, several organizations have stepped up to the plate. The Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO), Mobile Loaves & Fishes, and the Austin Homeless Advisory Council (AHAC) are all making great strides in addressing homelessness in the area.

ECHO

ECHO is a non-profit organization (501 (c) (3)) that plans and implements strategies to end homelessness in Austin and Travis County. Their Homeless Outreach Street Team (HOST) is an innovative initiative that operates in the Downtown and West Campus areas, and sometimes helps other parts of the city.

HOST works to meet the needs of people living on the street.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes

Mobile Loaves & Fishes is another organization leading an effort to reduce homelessness in Austin. They are collaborating with other organizations to create a comprehensive plan for mitigating homelessness in the city.

Austin Homeless Advisory Council

The Austin Homeless Advisory Council (AHAC) is a group of around 15 people who have experienced homelessness in Austin. AHAC, formerly known as the Austin Homeless Advisory Committee, works to provide support and resources for those who are homeless.These organizations are making great strides in addressing homelessness in Travis County, Texas. They are providing resources and support for those who are homeless, as well as creating strategies for reducing homelessness in the area.

By working together, these organizations are helping to create a better future for those who are homeless.
